Pocket PC 2002 email

Launch the PocketPC email client (e.g. by choosing inbox from the start menu, or from the Today screen).

Ensure that the PocketPC device is not connected to the internet, or in its docking station, and choose the Tools menu, then Options:

To create a new service to pick up from a Safeserve POP account, launch the new account wizard by clicking the "New" button:

Enter your email address in the first step:

The next step attempts to guess some account settings, but it doesn't usually work, so you can either wait for it to finish or click the "Skip" button to continue to the next step:

Now enter your name (that people will see when they receive your messages) and your Safeserve POP username and password. You can also check the "Save Password" box to avoid having to enter your password each time you connect:

Ensure the service type is set to "POP3", and enter a descriptive name of the POP account for yourself (to distinguish it from others you might later setup) e.g. "Safeserve".

Enter the incoming mail server as pop3.safeserve.com and enter the SMTP server name of the ISP you use to connect to the internet. The following server names may be of some use (although third party SMTP server names may change, so you should contact your ISP to check these):

Connecting via GSM dialup to Safeserve Internet: smtp.safeserve.com
Connecting via O2 GPRS: smtp.o2.co.uk
Connecting via Orange GPRS: smtp.orange.net

Leave the "Domain" box blank.

Clicking on the options button allowed you to download only the headers of messages to avoid downloading large files. The options below are ones which work well over a slow connection, but feel free to change them to suit your own preferences.

Clicking on the "Finish" button will take you back to the Options page ready for you to use your email account
